Why Virtual Diwali Parties are a Big Deal at Kitty Party?

Diwali, the festival of lights is coming and it’s getting super busy at Kitty Party. It is the biggest and the most vibrant festival in India. As I, Nistha, come from India, celebrating Diwali has been the most joyful time of the year.

For more than ten years, I have been away from my home and home country. Of course, Diwali brings a lot of feelings loaded with homesickness to me.

However, I have loved to host Diwali parties for my friends back in Seoul, South Korea and now for many years in Berlin, Germany. It’s been tradition in my home here to welcome all our friends to our home. All my friends now know that they have to keep a date reserved to celebrate Diwali. It feels amazing to see them all enjoying Diwali with us. It is a culmination of my favourite things. It is a time for people to meet and greet their loved ones, and exchange presents, trinkets, confections and good wishes. Mouth-watering cuisines are the primary delight of the festivities, and dancing with our loved ones under a roof decked in bedazzling lights make the festival even more special to me.

As I child also putting the light was one of my favourite part, it still is

Since I started doing these online team building events and online parties, I have been taken aback to have hosted so many companies and literally thousands of people in our online Diwali parties.

Diwali is like Christmas to many people coming from the Indian subcontinent as it marks the start of winter and is a smooth transition between seasons as we move from a cosy autumn to a chilling winter.  People who want to celebrate Diwali are spread out throughout the globe. And when everyone is celebrating the festival at home, we all who are settled in foreign lands get stormed by the feeling of missing the festival.

Every year for the last three years we at Kitty Party welcome teams from all over the world. We cook, we dance, we make some delicious spiced drinks and some cosy warm drinks and a lot of desserts. It gets super festive here at Kitty Party. Now Diwali is seen as important as Christmas in a lot of big companies. Diverse teams containing people from all ethnicities, cultures and languages come together and celebrate Diwali with us.

I am glad that I get to do something to bring Indians all over the world together; as close to their home as I can. There’s a ton of professionals from my country working across the globe and they all wish to celebrate Diwali. Helping them curb homesickness gives me a homely feeling and it doesn't seem like I'm far from India.

This is how together with these remarkably big companies, we at Kitty Party celebrate online Diwali and support the big cause of diversity and inclusiveness where everyone feels home and valued.

Our online Diwali celebrations are incomplete without lights, decorations and dressing up

Teams and I, we all dress up for Diwali.

I believe in celebrating all cultures and so Diwali at Kitty Party is a world-wide celebration of togetherness. I have celebrated Diwali with numerous teams worldwide, and it has been incredibly fulfilling to see my passion become the reason for someone's happiness. Together, we have made delicacies like the sweet Cashew Balls, the spicy Butter Masala, and a catalogue of refreshing drinks as part of the festive menu. Like one of the participants texted me last year, “Dear Nistha, you succeeded in bringing Diwali to our home which is so far away from home. Thank you so much for bringing a smile to our faces in a time when we feel homesickness at its most.”

At Kitty Party, we try to bring people a lot of joy and real happiness for the moments they share with us. The distance between friends and family is blurred when we bring teams across the world together to celebrate with us. Nothing battles the immense joy I get when I hear that my efforts have helped my customers feel the warmth of their home even when they're miles away.

I can’t thank you all enough for bringing part of my Diwali, because of you all, the wonderful guests, I too feel less homesick and rather I get to celebrate Diwali for over a month. As a child, I could not have believed that Diwali would one day last this long.

If you are thinking of celebrating a remote Diwali party with your team, look no further, I, Nistha at Kitty Party, wait to host you and bring you closer to this incredibly beautiful festival of lights.
